$130 SOF Retro UI Challenge

Description of the Challenge

Design a UI suite for a Retro Arcade-themed Roblox simulator game. Your submission must include four screens: main menu, shop, settings, and in-game HUD. All screens should share a unified visual language with consistent typography, colors, and design motifs. Pixel, CRT, and neon aesthetics are encouraged, but feel free to interpret "retro arcade" however inspires you. You could submit either a Figma file (shareable view link) or a functional implementation place in Roblox. Include a 100-word design explanation covering your concept, aesthetic choices, and how you tied the screens together. Judging weighs visual design 40%, consistency 30%, theme execution 20%, and usability 10%. The top three placements share a $130 prize money in a form of a Visa card. The division is as goes; $65 to 1st, $39 to 2nd, and $26 to 3rd. Submissions are reviewed by SOF after the deadline, and prize cards are issued within one (1) calendar day after winners are announced.

  • One submission per challenger covering menu, shop, settings, and HUD. Figma or Roblox.
  • Include a 100-word write-up on your concept and aesthetic choices.
  • No specific role required to join, this challenge is open to everyone as long as you have an active Call-PIN.
  • AI tools may assist, but the heavy lifting must be yours. No fully AI-generated submissions, no traced layouts.
  • Under 3 entries by the deadline triggers a 7-day extension. Assessment then runs with whatever's filed.

Reward Terms

  • SOF-issued virtual Visa card with a spend limit equal to your prize. USD purchases only.
  • 18+ to claim. Minors need a parent or guardian to claim on their behalf.
  • Claim within 30 days. Unclaimed cards roll into the next challenge pool.
  • SOF reserves the right to verify identity before issuing the card.
  • Sub-$3 balances may be reclaimed after 7 days of inactivity.
  • Cards are non-transferable. Balances cannot be exchanged for cash or other currencies.
  • Winners are responsible for any taxes owed on their prize per their local jurisdiction.
  • Standard Visa merchant rules apply at point of purchase.
